About Glen M. Shellrude, Ph.D.

I am Professor of New Testament at the Alliance Theological Seminary in NYC.  I love teaching and am especially blessed to do it in the incredibly diverse arena of NYC where the whole world comes together.

My undergraduate degree in philosophy and history is from the American University Beirut, Lebanon.  I did my M.Div. at Wycliffe College in Toronto and Denver Seminary in Colorado.  I then did a Ph.D. in New Testament at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.  From 1985-2000 I taught New Testament at the Alliance Biblical Seminary in Manila and was also Academic Dean from 1990 to 2000.  Since 2000 I have been teaching New Testament at the Alliance Theological Seminary in New York City.

Study, reflection, and writing have always been passions of mine, and thus I have a special interest in identifying good resources to help Christians process a wide range of issues.  There has never been both so much exceptional resource material as well as so much mediocre material available to Christians.  I am interested in helping Christians identify the very best material with selective bibliographies.  The lists are not exhaustive but they indicate a good place to start.  I find that if bibliographies include too much, then many of us are discouraged from even starting.

I grew up with two younger sisters in Guinea, West Africa where my parents were missionaries.   It was also in Guinea that I met my wife, Lois (Bothwell) Shellrude.   My wife and I have two adult children, Amy and Mark.

My family will always be first in my heart, but with that as a given, I am also passionate about raising roses, Indian cooking, jazz and classical music, and photography.
